From 01 January 2017, as part of their membership undertaking, Chartered Practices will be bound by the RIBA Code of Practice for Chartered Practices.

 

As a Chartered Practice registered with the RIBA, Anthony Watson Chartered Architect will need to comply with this.

Project Updates

Ashfield Court, Joicey Road, Low Fell - Thursby Homes (Springs) Ltd.

 

Thursby Homes (Springs) Ltd. started on site in November 2018 with their development in the heart of Low Fell. The existing Springs Leisure Club has been demolished and the cleared site is now being developed. The successful contractor for the project is Able Construction (Northern) Ltd. and work is expected to last around 12 months completing in November 2019. 

 
The proposed project comprises 22 luxury apartments within a woodland setting. There will be a management plan in place to maintain the grounds as well as the building itself for the benefit of the new residents.  

 

The apartments are now for sale and can be viewed on Rightmove. 
 

New HQ, Hexham - In House Inspired Room Design

 

Work is almost complete on the New HQ in Hexham for InHouse Inspired Room Design. It is anticipated that the showroom will be open for business in January 2019.

 

The contractor for the project - Black and White Construction - have completed the work which is a significant addition to the Bridge End Industrial Estate in Hexham. In House are looking forward to moving to their new home bringing together several aspects of their service in one purpose built building.

Shinwell Court, Hebburn - Bernicia Group

 

Work has been completed at Shinwell Court in Hebburn for Bernicia Group. The scheme comprises a mixture of 2 and 3 bedroom homes. The construction process took almost 18 months but the finished development was certainly worth the wait. Bernicia had over 140 applications for the 14 homes. 

 

Sharon Lake - Bernicia Programme Manager - said 'We are over the moon with the quality of the homes - it is such an improvement for the local community. We are starting off a new community based on affordable, high quality family accommodation which we specialise in at Bernicia.'

 

The scheme was a Design and Build working with Able Construction (Northern) Ltd. which provided each home with its own private driveway, garden and utility room, together with ample visitor parking for family and friends.

The Sidings, Darlington - Railway Housing Association 

 

Work is now complete on site for Railway Housing Association's Phase 1 development at Haughton Road in Darlington. A total of 73 units have been built including a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom houses, 2 bedroom bungalows, 1 bedroom apartments and the conversion of a Grade II listed engine shed to 10 houses. 

 

The contractor for the works was Tolent Construction, with Structural and Civil Engineering designs carried out by Coast Consulting Engineers. The project management for the scheme was carried out by Hall and Partners.

 

Phase 2 of the overall project comprising a further 14 bungalows has now received planning permission and is due to start on site in Spring 2019.

The Sidings has been shortlisted in the Northern Housing Awards for the Affordable Housing Scheme of the Year. The awards ceremony will take place in Manchester in May.

Ashdale Road, Consett - Karbon Developments Ltd.

 

Planning permission has been granted for 24no. 2 bedroom bungalows on a site in Consett previously occupied by the local swimming baths. 

 

The project has been tendered and the successful contractor for the site works is Surgo Construction from Newcastle. Work will start in early January 2019 and is expected to take around 11 months to complete.  

 

Lord Gort Close, Sunderland 

 

Planning permission has been received for the external refurbishment of Lord Gort Close in Southwick, Sunderland for Housing and Care 21. Tenders are currently being sought for this as well as internal improvements to the apartments and common areas. 

 

It is anticipated that work will commence on site in early March 2019, and will take around 12 months to complete.

 

St. George's Terrace, Roker

 

Planning permission has been granted for 3 no. 4 bedroom detached houses on a secluded site in Roker, Sunderland. The development is currently being marketed by Paul Airey Estate Agents with demand expected to be high for this prestigious site.

Cox Green Road, Penshaw

 

Work is nearing completion on the first properties at Cox Green Road in Penshaw. 

 

The developers W and D Christie have retired from their motor business and are developing the brownfield site previously used as their car repair facility.

 

The site comprises 14 no. 3 bedroom homes constructed in timber frame using Flitcraft as the frame manufacturers. The properties are aimed at first time buyers with the bonus of the Help to Buy initiative available for each house.

 

Westlands, Coxhoe, County Durham - Moordale North East Ltd. 

 

Work has started and is progressing well on a development of 12 no two bedroom bungalows for sale in Coxhoe, Durham. Moordale North East Ltd. have secured funding to begin work and are looking forward to first completions in Spring 2017. The bungalows are targetted at people downsizing whilst maintaining generous living space with parking and garaging for 2 cars.
